DPR Construction is a commercial general contractor and construction management firm. The privately held, employee-owned company has 30 offices throughout the United States. The firm specializes in technically complex and sustainable projects for the advanced technology/mission-critical, life sciences, healthcare, higher education, and commercial office markets.
Business Challenges
As DPR Construction saw fast growth through mergers and acquisitions, the employee-owned firm quickly realized they needed to update their legacy systems. Their previous EPM solution was lagging in performance, creating time and accuracy delays. DPR’s Self-Perform Work (SPW) business had a siloed close and planning process that was inconsistent with the rest of the organization and not aligned to the company’s existing EPM footprint. In addition, key stakeholders were unable to make important decisions because of lack of visibility into accurate and up-to-date data.
Approach
To support their long-term financial planning goals, DPR Construction partnered with Peloton Consulting Group to transition from their legacy systems to a modernized Oracle Cloud EPM solution. DPR was focused on a unified process across the organization, making Peloton’s approach to leveraging people, processes, and technology a perfect match for DPR’s needs. Together with Peloton, DPR developed an EPM Planning Solution for the SPW Team that enabled consistent close and planning methodologies. They rebuilt an existing General Contractor Planning application better aligned to reporting needs, faster execution times, and with more sustainable, state-of-the art architecture.
Business Impact
By leveraging Peloton’s deep industry expertise and implementation know-how, DPR Construction successfully transitioned their legacy systems to a modern Oracle Cloud EPM. The construction firm integrated the SPW and the General Contractor EPM applications, facilitating consolidated reporting for the entire organization. DPR can now access project-level and subproject-level driver-based planning and reporting. Adjusted inputs, integrated data, and calculation outputs are now instantly available on structured reports, providing tremendous cost and time savings. And the number of steps in the close process is greatly reduced, allowing for a much faster monthly cycle.
Summary
Peloton Consulting Group delivered an Oracle Cloud EPM solution that enabled DPR Construction to streamline consistent planning and consolidation of 100+ offline workbooks and close processes. Operations across the organization were standardized, providing faster cycles and more accurate reporting.
