There really is no “big-bang approach” to performance management – it’s a journey. It’s my role to take clients on that journey. Hi, I’m Rob and I lead client engagements for Peloton. As part of that role, I partner with our clients to ensure we deliver on our commitments, with a focus on driving maximum business value.
At a tactical level, my role at Peloton is to structure client engagements. If done correctly, it results in delivering tangible outcomes to our clients, usually based on “practically innovative” technology. However, to be successful, you must mobilize your team and, most importantly, communicate. For instance, I was once brought into a project that was at risk. There had been various project staffing transitions on the project. The deliverables were off the mark, and the business sponsors had all but given up. It was my role to re-build trust and re-group around delivering on the initiative’s stated goals. We needed to get into a project rhythm, begin to deliver, celebrate small wins, provide more transparency to progress, and work hard to build back some trust in the renewed possibilities of the project. We effectively did this and I was proud to be part of it.
I really believe in the iterative approach that we, at Peloton, utilize to deliver our projects. It’s not always easy to know what you want in an analytics and performance management solution. Through our “Breakaway” process, we help our clients to define what they want and to begin to visualize the pieces of the solution. I enjoy walking alongside them during this process of discovery and seeing the “a-ha” moments.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with customers across a broad spectrum of industries – including Aerospace and Defense, Consumer Products, Life Sciences, Media and Entertainment, Retail, Process and Industrial Products and others. Some of the more interesting experiences include: creating analytical models and dashboards to analyze the recurring income streams for various shows on a popular TV channel, transforming a retail apparel company’s Planning and Reporting solution to provide better visibility into their financials and supporting a large retail organization in better understanding the performance of their distribution centers and logistics. It was exciting to get a chance to see their Distribution Centers in action – there is a lot more that goes into that process than most folks think!
“Performance Management is a journey, not a destination…”
Inside Peloton, I support the folks that are building technical, industry and domain expertise in the areas of planning and forecasting technologies. Specifically, coaching, growing and mentoring our staff to ensure they can deliver maximum value to our clients in all aspects of what we do. It is exciting to see our staff expand their knowledge and gain insights into how best to support our customers with leading practices.
Outside of work, I’m really into cars and motorsports. I am a huge fan of Formula 1 racing. An interesting tidbit about me is that I grew up in a small town known for its cranberry bogs.
As for education, I graduated from Bentley University where I studied Computer Information Systems. I’ve also worked at several other well-known consulting firms before joining Peloton.
